These strategies include:1. 'The Gradecatcher' - a comprehensive document which informs any pupil in KS4 / KS5 of the best practice leading to their optimal grade.They are given to all pupils as a hard copy but can also be downloaded on the right hand side icon.2. 'Artist Links Databases' -these are available in folder format but can also be downloaded from here. They can avoid time consuming browsing through books and websites to identify the most useful and relevant artists for any KS4 / KS5 pupil.3. 'Looking at Artworks' sheet -this helps with in-depth analysis of any art or design work. This normally works very well in tandem with the subject specific vocabulary sheet concerned with the formal elements. Also can be downloaded from here.4. Lesson strategies inc. 'Odd One Out', 'Top Trumps' etc -these tend to encourage pupils to think 'outside of the box' concerning artists and their work. The Head of Department is currently undertaking a 'Teacher Leader' MA course at Sheffield Hallam University. The projects are centred upon making and quantifying decisive changes in the quality of Teaching and Learning.The first completed topic is titled 'Strategies of how to raise the middle ability pupil to a top grade in A-Level Art & Design'. Copies of this are held in the department for pupils, parents and teachers to refer to. The Head of Department welcomes any pupil and / or parents to book an appointment to discuss any issues getting in the way of satisfactory progress. Of course, a pupil should firstly be placing due effort in and outside of the studio environment to allow progress to take place.
